Career Day @ Destiny Park
On 25th of June children from Casa din Tei centre and Sfânta Maria centre visited the first edutainment park in Romania called Destiny Park, accompanied by Larisa, our Fundraising Specialist, and Emilia, our English Teacher. At Destiny Park, children can experience different professions such as doctors, pilots, TV presenters, and firefighters, and learn how finances work in a city created just for them. Before entering the city, each child gets a coloured scarf and 50 Magicbani which can be used in exchange for different experiences inside the park. In certain roles, for instance, children are required to pay for the opportunity to explore a career path rather than earning a wage. The children loved the overall experience and tried as many careers as possible. The entire experience broadened their understanding of how the real world works while helping them develop their social skills and sense of responsibility
First Canada Cup Niagara 2026
A team of 10 Teachstream children represented the organization at FIRST Canada Cup Niagara 2026, marking a milestone not only for the program, but also for each child involved. For many, this was their first flight, their first journey across the ocean, and their first opportunity to compete in a global FLL environment. Beyond the competition itself, the experience required them to present their team, robot, and innovation project with confidence, while also collaborating internationally by forming an alliance with a Canadian team and working together to achieve 4th place. The impact extended far beyond robotics. The children experienced independence, self-management, teamwork, cultural exchange, Niagara, Toronto, and their first international social interactions with peers from around the world. These moments created learning outcomes that cannot be measured only in financial terms. The value of this journey lies in the confidence, perspective, ambition, and life experience it gave to the children — outcomes that will continue to shape their future well beyond the competition.
Teachstream Lego Sumo 2026
The third edition of our own Sumo contest, with 2 outside of organisation teams participating took place on 30th May. A total of 8 teams from 3 cities featuring a total of 32 children participated in this event. A simple but also more straightforward competition with rushing adrenaline to engage the children in a faster paced competition, but at the same time push them and their robots to their limit - using multiple sensors for all kinds of scenarios the robots might find themselves in.
FLL Challenge - Unearthed
Taking part in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, Unearthed season, was a truly meaningful experience for our teams! ☺️ We showed up with four teams: Cyber Spark, Pixel Script, RoboPop and Roboticon, and for many of the children it was their very first competition at this level. The nerves were definitely there, but they rose to the occasion. They learned how to confidently present their ideas to the judges, think on their feet, handle the pressure of robot matches and stay connected as a team even when things did not go exactly as planned. They supported one another, had fun, built new friendships and gained valuable insights by watching and interacting with more experienced teams. You could really see their growth throughout the day, and that is something we are deeply proud of. We are excited that RoboPop will continue this journey at the National stage on March 8!
First Lego League – Submerged season
The 2024–2025 First Lego League season marked our ninth year of participation. This year, our teams competed in four stages across Romania and Moldova, following the Submerged theme and exploring challenges connected to ocean discovery, robotics and innovation. Throughout the season, the children worked on robot missions, developed project ideas, presented their solutions and learned how to respond under pressure. The competition gave them a real context to use their STEM knowledge, practise teamwork and learn from other teams. Regionals in Bucharest Our season began in Bucharest with three teams: Roboticon, Hydro Hackers and Cyber Spark. During the regional stage, the children tested their robots, presented their ideas and adjusted their strategies throughout the day. Cyber Spark qualified for the national stage, after a strong performance that reflected their preparation and teamwork. Regionals in Chisinau The season continued in Chisinau, where Roboticon and Cyber Spark competed in another regional event. Our teams received two important awards: the Core Values Award, which recognised their teamwork, inclusion and commitment to learning, and the Coach Award, which celebrated the mentors who supported the children throughout the season. Cyber Spark also qualified once again for the national stage. Nationals in Bucharest and Chisinau On March 8, Cyber Spark competed at the national stage in Bucharest, alongside some of the strongest teams in Romania. Their work and attitude were recognised with 3rd place in the Core Values category. One week later, on March 16, the team also took part in the national stage in Chisinau. There, they presented their project, competed with teams from Moldova and continued to exchange ideas with other young participants. Looking Back This season was not only about results. It was about preparation, problem-solving, teamwork and the confidence built through each stage of the competition. We are proud of all the children who took part this year and grateful to the mentors who guided them. First LEGO League continues to be one of the most valuable ways for our students to use what they learn, work together and see what they can build through effort and creativity.
First Lego League 2023–2024: Our Eighth Year in the Competition
The 2023–2024 First Lego League season marked our eighth year of participation, and it was one of the most active seasons for our teams so far. We took part in three stages of the competition: the regional events in Bucharest and Chisinau, followed by the national stage in Brasov. Regionals in Bucharest Our season began in Bucharest, where we participated with three teams: CyberSpark, RocketKids and Zen. Each team brought its own energy, ideas and way of approaching the challenge. CyberSpark qualified for the national stage in Brasov and received the Innovation Award for a project that stood out through its creativity and practical thinking. RocketKids, taking part for the first time, made a strong impression and received the Motivation Award for their robot performance. Their first season showed focus, commitment and a clear willingness to learn. Zen also had a solid presence in the competition, showing good teamwork, technical involvement and a steady approach throughout the event. Regionals in Chisinau The season continued in Chișinău, where Zen and CyberSpark represented Teachstream once again. Zen received the Excellence in Engineering Award, a recognition of their design work, problem-solving and technical choices. CyberSpark qualified again for the national stage, confirming the consistency of their work and the strength of their project. Beyond the awards, the Chisinau regional was an important experience for the children. They had the chance to test their ideas in a different setting, interact with other teams and continue building confidence through competition. Nationals in Brasov The final stage took us to Brasov, where our teams competed alongside some of the best teams in the country. The national stage brought a higher level of pressure, but also a valuable opportunity to present their projects, run their robots and see how their work compared in a wider competition context. After the competition, we also spent time exploring the old town of Brasov. It gave the children a chance to enjoy the city, relax after the intensity of the event and share the experience outside the competition space. Looking Back The 2023–2024 season was not only about awards, although we are proud of every result. It was also about the work behind them: the hours of preparation, the teamwork, the failed attempts, the adjustments, the presentations and the courage to try again. We are proud of CyberSpark, RocketKids and Zen for the way they represented Teachstream throughout the season. Their progress reminds us why First Lego League remains such an important part of our educational work: it gives children a real context to use their knowledge, build confidence and see what they can create together.
A Visit to Brillio HQ
On February 22, 2024, we set off for Cluj-Napoca with some of the children in our programme to visit Brillio’s headquarters. The day began before sunrise at Otopeni Airport, where we gathered for an early flight. For some of them, it was their first time on a plane. After landing, the first stop was Brillio. The children were welcomed with breakfast and then introduced to people working in different departments across the company. The visit gave them a direct look at what happens inside a professional workplace. Software programmers, HR specialists, CXA engineers and BI analysts spoke about their roles, their daily work and the skills they use. Instead of hearing about careers in abstract terms, the children met the people behind those job titles and were able to ask questions. The atmosphere quickly became open and relaxed. The children listened, followed the presentations and shared their own curiosities about technology, work and future choices. The conversations helped connect what they learn in class with real examples of how knowledge can be used later. The visit ended in Brillio’s recreation room, where the group played table tennis, board games and chess, and spent time together outside the usual structure of a lesson. The following day, the children explored Cluj-Napoca’s old town and visited Cetățuia Park, where they saw the city from above before returning to Bucharest. The trip offered more than a visit to a company. It gave the children a chance to step into a professional environment, speak to people from different fields and see that future careers are built through skills, choices and exposure to new experiences.
From Bucharest to Houston: A First Lego League Experience
In 2022, while our association was still known as Kids Academy, a group of children from our programme travelled with us to Houston, USA, to take part in the First Lego League Challenge, an international competition built around robotics, research, creativity and teamwork. For many of them, the journey started before the competition hall. It started with their first flight, with large international airports, with a new city, and with the responsibility of travelling as part of a team. Once in Houston, they presented their work, took part in robot matches and met teams from different countries. The competition placed everything they had learned in a real setting. They had to explain their ideas clearly, answer questions, handle pressure and stay connected as a team, even when things did not go as planned. The children offered glow sticks, glowing earrings, glasses and other colourful accessories to visitors and other teams. What began as a simple way to decorate the stand became a point of connection. People soon remembered us as the “glow stick team”, and the stand became an easy place for conversations to start. We did not return with a prize, but the team came back with something important: the experience of competing seriously, adapting to an international environment and representing their work with confidence. Before leaving Houston, we also visited NASA’s Space Center, where the children explored spacecraft, mission modules and technology displays. The trip remains one of the clearest examples of what educational support can offer when it moves beyond regular classes: not only knowledge, but confidence, responsibility and a wider sense of what is possible.
Workshops and Competitions: The Early Years of Our Programme
Before Teachstream became what it is today, our work focused on giving children practical experiences beyond traditional lessons. Over time, they took part in workshops, competitions, company visits and creative projects, all designed to build skills and support their education. Let’s Play D’arts The Let’s Play D’arts exhibition brought together artists, volunteers and supporters who helped organise and contribute to the event. Funds raised supported the Kids.acadEMy programme, helping us continue offering courses and learning opportunities. First Steps in First LEGO League First LEGO League became a key part of our programme. In 2017, our team won an award for teamwork, and in 2018 we competed internationally in Moldova. Beyond awards, children learned teamwork, problem-solving and presentation skills. Visits to EveryMatrix Children regularly visited EveryMatrix, where they explored how digital skills are used in real work environments. A summer programme allowed them to work with specialists on practical projects. Competitions and Digital Skills We organised competitions in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, LEGO Mindstorms, Photoshop and coding. These activities encouraged learning, with prizes like school supplies and tablets rewarding effort and progress. Photoshop Week During Photoshop Week, children learned image editing through creative projects, ending with designs inspired by their favourite cartoons. Internet Safety Day Workshops taught children about online risks and how to stay safe, ending with participation certificates. Christmas Workshop Children created handmade decorations with guidance from teachers and volunteers, then decorated the Christmas tree together. Why These Activities Matter These activities show how learning can happen outside the classroom. They helped children build skills, explore interests and gain confidence. They also highlight the support of volunteers, partners and mentors who made these experiences possible. These early initiatives continue to reflect Teachstream’s mission: supporting education through practical and meaningful learning experiences.
